Sign in with a passkey

Updated 2026-06-14

What this does

A passkey lets you sign in to Euphyr with your face, fingerprint, device PIN, or a hardware security key instead of typing a password. It's tied to your device, so there's nothing to remember and nothing to leak. You can add more than one — for example, one on your phone and one on your laptop.

How to do it

To add a passkey:

  1. Open "Settings" and stay on the "General" tab.
  2. Under "Profile", scroll to the "Passkeys" section.
  3. Click "Add passkey".
  4. Follow your device's prompt to confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, your PIN, or a security key.

The new passkey appears in the list with the date you added it.

To sign in with a passkey:

  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click "Sign in with a passkey" (below the "Log in" button).
  3. Confirm with your face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key when your device prompts you.

To remove a passkey:

  1. Open "Settings" and stay on the "General" tab.
  2. Under "Profile", in the "Passkeys" section, click the trash icon next to the passkey you want to remove.

Common questions

Do I still need a password if I use a passkey?

Your password still works. A passkey is an additional way to sign in, not a replacement — you can use either. Keep your password set so you can still get in on a device that doesn't have your passkey.

Can I use my passkey on another device?

A passkey lives on the device where you created it. If your phone and laptop sync passkeys through the same account (for example through your Apple or Google account), it may be available on both. Otherwise, add a separate passkey on each device from the "Passkeys" section in "Settings".

How many passkeys can I add?

You can add several. Each one shows in the "Passkeys" list in "Settings" with the date you added it, so you can tell them apart and remove any you no longer use.

Is a passkey more secure than a password?

A passkey can't be guessed, reused, or phished the way a password can — the secret part never leaves your device. Removing a passkey in "Settings" immediately stops it from being used to sign in.

When it doesn't work

"Sign in with a passkey" does nothing or shows an error — your browser or device may not support passkeys, or you may not have added one yet. Sign in with your email and password instead, then add a passkey from "Settings".

"Passkey sign-in was cancelled" — the device prompt was dismissed or timed out. Click "Sign in with a passkey" again and confirm when your device asks.

The passkey prompt never appears when adding one — make sure you're on a device with Face ID, Touch ID, a PIN, or a connected security key. On a shared or managed computer, passkey setup may be turned off.

Your passkey works on the website but not somewhere else — a passkey is tied to the site and device where you created it. Add a new passkey on each device you want to sign in from.
