Pick a default Spaceship contact
Updated 2026-06-04
What this does
When you register a domain through Euphyr using Spaceship, Spaceship needs to know which of your contacts to put on the domain (registrant, admin, tech, and billing). The default Spaceship contact is the one Euphyr uses for all four roles automatically. You only set this once, and Euphyr reuses it on every Spaceship registration until you change it.
How to do it
- Open
Settingsfrom the left sidebar. - Click the
Integrationstab. - Find the
Spaceshiptile. If it showsConnect, click it first and follow the connect dialog. - Once Spaceship is connected, click
Settingson the Spaceship tile. A panel slides in from the right. - Under
Default contact, Euphyr loads the contacts from your Spaceship account and lists them with a radio button next to each name. - Pick the contact you want to use as the default.
- Click
Save.
Open Settings again any time to switch to a different contact. The contact marked current default is the one in use.
Common questions
Why does Euphyr need a default contact?
Spaceship requires a contact ID for the registrant, admin, tech, and billing roles on every domain it registers. Euphyr uses the same default for all four roles so that registering a domain is a one-click action — no contact picker on every register. You set the default once in Settings and Euphyr reuses it.
Where do the contacts in the list come from?
The list shows every contact attached to one of the domains already in your Spaceship account. Euphyr cannot create or edit contacts — it only reads them. To add a new contact, open your Spaceship dashboard, create the contact there, then reopen this panel to pick it.
What does the contact ID under each name mean?
Each Spaceship contact has its own unique ID, shown under the contact name so you can tell two similarly-named contacts apart. The ID is the only thing Euphyr stores — your name, address, and email stay in Spaceship.
Can I use different contacts for registrant, admin, tech, and billing?
Not yet. Today Euphyr applies the same default contact to all four roles on a Spaceship registration. If you need separate contacts per role, register the domain directly in your Spaceship dashboard and then add it to your Euphyr portfolio.
When it doesn't work
- `Settings` button is missing — Spaceship is not connected yet. Click
Connecton the Spaceship tile inSettings → Integrationsand enter your API key and secret. - "No contacts found in your Spaceship account." — Your Spaceship account has no domains, and Spaceship's API exposes contacts only through the domains they are attached to. Add a contact in the Spaceship dashboard, then reopen this panel.
- "Spaceship rejected those credentials. Reconnect the integration in Settings." — Your stored Spaceship API key or secret is no longer valid (rotated, revoked, or mistyped during connect). Click
Disconnecton the Spaceship tile, thenConnectagain with a fresh key. - "The Spaceship API key is missing required scopes (domains:read and contacts:read)." — Your API key was created without the scopes Euphyr needs. Re-issue the key in your Spaceship account with both
domains:readandcontacts:readpermissions, then reconnect in Settings. - "Spaceship rate limit hit. Try again in a minute." — You opened the panel several times in quick succession. Spaceship caps how often we can read contact details. Wait a minute and try again.
