Verify domain ownership

What this does

Verifying domain ownership proves you control the domain. Once verified, the domain moves from your Watchlist to your Portfolio. Only one person can own a verified domain at a time — if someone else verifies the same domain, it automatically moves to their portfolio.

How to do it

  1. Open a domain's detail page from your Watchlist by clicking it.
  2. Click Verify ownership next to the "Details" heading. A dialog opens with the TXT record to add.
  3. Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).
  4. Go to your domain's DNS settings.
  5. Add a new TXT record:
  • Name (or Host/Subdomain): @ (root domain)
  • Type: TXT
  • Value: Copy the verification code from Euphyr
  1. Save the DNS record.
  2. Wait a few minutes for DNS to propagate (usually 2–10 minutes).
  3. Return to Euphyr and click "Check Verification".
  4. If the TXT record is found, your domain moves to your Portfolio.

Common questions

How long does DNS take to propagate?

DNS changes usually take a few minutes to an hour to propagate globally. Click "Check Verification" after waiting 5–10 minutes. If it still fails, wait longer and try again.

What if verification fails?

Check that:

  • You added the TXT record to the correct domain
  • The record name matches exactly (including the _euphyr-verify. prefix)
  • The value is the exact code Euphyr provided (no extra spaces or characters)
  • You've saved the record in your registrar's control panel

Can I verify a domain I don't own?

No. Verification requires DNS access, which only the actual domain owner has. This prevents others from adding domains to your portfolio.

What happens if someone else verifies a domain I had verified?

Your domain automatically moves back to your Watchlist. The new owner is now the verified owner in their portfolio.

Do I need to verify domains I buy from registrars like GoDaddy?

If you already own the domain with a registrar, you can verify it in Euphyr to prove ownership and move it to your portfolio.

When it doesn't work

  • "TXT record not found or incorrect" — The DNS record doesn't exist yet or has the wrong value. Check your registrar's control panel and make sure the record is saved. DNS may also need more time to propagate; wait a few minutes and try again. Note: some registrars (like GoDaddy) auto-append the domain, so enter just _euphyr-verify instead of the full name.
  • "Couldn't verify that domain. Try again." — A temporary error occurred. Wait a moment and try again. If it persists, check that the TXT record is still in your DNS settings.
  • Check Verification button is disabled — You're not logged in. Log in to Euphyr and try again.
