Set acquisition price

What this does

Acquisition price is what you paid for the domain. It helps you track the cost of your investment and see how your portfolio is performing over time.

How to do it

1. Open the domain's detail page by clicking it from your portfolio.
2. Open the "Manage" tab and find "Acquisition price" in the panel on the right.
3. Click "Add acquisition price".
4. Enter the amount you paid.
5. Press Enter or click the checkmark to save.

To edit it later, click the pencil icon next to the price and enter a new amount.

Common questions

Is acquisition price required?

No. You can leave it blank if you don't want to track it or don't remember what you paid.

How is acquisition price different from selling price?

Acquisition price is what you paid for the domain. Selling price is what you're asking for it — either your own asking price or someone else's listed price. They're independent fields.

How does acquisition price relate to valuation?

Your valuation is a market estimate of what the domain could be worth. Acquisition price is simply your cost. You might have paid $100 and the valuation could show $5,000 — that's a positive signal about your investment.

Can I edit or delete it?

Yes. Click the pencil icon to edit the price, or clear the field to remove it.

What is "Potential profit"?

Once you've set an acquisition price, a "Potential profit" line appears just below it. It's the difference between what you could sell the domain for and what you paid. If you've set a selling price, it uses that; if you haven't, it uses the marketplace valuation estimate. A green number means you'd come out ahead at that price; a red number means you'd sell at a loss. If the domain has no valuation yet and you haven't set a selling price, the line doesn't show.

When it doesn't work

• Can't type in the input field — Refresh the page. If you still can't edit, check your internet connection.
• Error says "Enter a price between $0 and $99,999,999" — You've entered a price outside the valid range. Use numbers only, no currency symbols.
• Price disappears after saving — Refresh the page. If it's still gone, try saving again.
