Check registered variants of your domain

What this does

The Registered variants card on each domain's detail page shows other registered domains that are close to your name. It has two sections: "Variants" (hyphenated forms, word-order swaps, and singular / plural pairs of your name) and "Alternatives" (registered domains that start or end with your name). This helps you spot squatters, competing brands, lookalikes, and names you could buy as an upgrade.

How to do it

1. Open Portfolio or Watchlist.
2. Click the domain you want to check. The detail page opens.
3. Scroll to the Registered variants card. The first time you open a domain, the card shows a "Scanning..." message while the scan runs.
4. Refresh the page after about a minute. The card shows two sections: "Variants" grouped by type (Hyphenated, Word order, Plural / singular) and "Alternatives" (Starts with, Ends with).
5. Each registered domain has a tag showing its status: a price or "Aftermarket" if it's for sale, "Parked" if it's an empty placeholder, or "Taken" otherwise.

Common questions

What's the difference between "Variants" and "Alternatives"?

"Variants" are close rewrites of your exact name — the same words hyphenated (inventory-now), reordered (nowinventory), or with a trailing s toggled (inventorynows). Euphyr checks each one for whether it's registered, listed for sale (with the asking price), and whether it has a live website. These are the ones that most directly compete with or validate your name.

"Alternatives" are registered domains that start or end with your name (cloudnine, mycloud for cloud). They're real registered neighbours, shown so you can see what else is built around your name. Euphyr shows whether each is registered and whether it's parked, but does not check their asking price or live status.

What does the price or "Aftermarket" tag mean on a variant?

When a variant is listed for sale, its tag shows the asking price (or "Aftermarket" when no price is quoted). Click it to open the listing. This appears in the "Variants" section, where Euphyr checks each registered variant's for-sale status and price.

What does the "Parked" tag mean?

A "Parked" tag means that domain's nameservers point at a known domain-parking or for-sale service, so it's almost certainly an empty placeholder or a domain listed for sale rather than a real working site. Click the tag to open the domain and see its landing page — parked domains are often the easiest ones to buy. Domains without the tag are registered but show no parking signal, and are tagged "Taken", "Aftermarket", "Expiring", or "Backorder" instead.

What's the difference between Registered matches and Registered variants?

Registered matches answers "is the exact same name taken on another extension?". Registered variants answers "is someone camping on a close variation or a name that starts or ends with mine?".

Why does the card show "Scanning..." when I first open a domain?

The variant scan runs once per name and is cached after. It usually finishes in about a minute. Refresh the page to see the result. Live-website status for the variants can take a little longer to fill in and appears on a later refresh.

When it doesn't work

• The card stays on "Scanning..." for more than a few minutes — Refresh the page. If it still hasn't completed, come back in ten minutes.
• "No registered variants found" — That's the normal outcome for names with no widely-registered variations. It does not mean the scan failed. The "Alternatives" section may still show neighbours that start or end with your name.
• A variant I expected is missing — The "Variants" section only catches hyphenated, word-order and plural forms. Typo and look-alike spellings are not included today. The "Alternatives" section covers the most common extensions, not every one.
