Check same name on other extensions

What this does

The Registered matches card on each domain's detail page shows which other extensions of the same name are already taken, and which of those are listed for sale right now.

For each taken name, the card also shows the asking price when one is published.

How to do it

These steps cover viewing the same-name check for a single domain. You need to be logged in.

1. Open Portfolio.
2. Click the domain you want to check. The detail page opens.
3. Scroll to the Registered matches card. The first time this name is checked the card shows a loading state for a few seconds.
4. The card shows a count of taken extensions and a count of how many of those are listed for sale. Names with an asking price come first, then names that are taken but not listed.

Common questions

What do the badges next to each extension mean?

The badge to the right of each registered extension shows what the user can do today:

• A price (e.g. `$2,500`) — the name is listed for sale at that price. Click through to the marketplace.
• `Aftermarket` — the name is listed for sale but no asking price is shown. Click through to see the listing.
• `Expiring` — the current owner hasn't renewed and the name is about to drop.
• `Backorder` — you can queue to register the name if it drops.
• `Taken` — registered with no public sale or drop signal. Contact the owner directly to buy.

All five mean you can't simply register the name yourself today.

Why does the same-name list sometimes refresh on its own?

It updates in the background when its data is older than a month, so the count you see is current.

What does the "Registered TLDs" column in my portfolio and watchlist show?

The "Registered TLDs" column shows how many other extensions the same name is already taken on — for example, a 42 next to acme means acme is registered on 42 extensions (like .net, .org, .xyz, and so on). It's the at-a-glance count version of the "Registered matches" card on the domain's detail page: a higher number means the name has been claimed widely, which signals demand. Click the "Registered TLDs" column header to sort and put the most widely-registered names first. A dash (—) means the count hasn't finished loading yet; open the domain to see the full breakdown of which extensions are taken and which are listed for sale.

When it doesn't work

• "Couldn't check that name. Try again." — Refresh the page in a minute. If it keeps failing, there's nothing to do from your account.
• "You've requested too many checks this hour. Try again later." — Wait an hour, or open domains whose results are already cached.
• The card stays loading for more than a minute — Refresh the page. If the check finished, the card shows the result.
